Hennepin Canal Parkway State Park

Daily activities include hiking, boating, fishing, birding, and horseback riding. Camping is available along the canal and at designated locations. Bicycle enthusiasts enjoy the Hennepin Canal, a 104.5 mile linear park, a link in the American Discovery Trail and the Grand Illinois Trail Systems. In the winter, get the snowmobiles out and head for the hills, north to Rock Falls, West to Colona and East to Bureau Junction. The Hennepin Canal holds outdoor entertainment for all seasons.

1360 acres with a 60-acre lake is located five miles south on IL Hwy 78.
Enjoy a hike, a summer afternoon picnic or rent a boat to fish the 60-acre lake for crappie, blue gill, bass and more.

The park features Ryan’s Round Barn, one of only 42 round barns remaining in the State of Illinois, standing 80 feet high and 85 feet in diameter. The first floor includes a farm museum. Open for touring the first and third Saturday of the month, May through October.

LaChateau 40 & 8 Campgrounds

Built for veterans after WW I, the LaChateau 40 & 8 Park is located just west of Annawan off Route 6. The rich history is evident when you pull in the drive. During Veteran’s Day, a touching and sentimental celebration is held in honor of the local and national veterans. Camping and swimming facilities are available as well as a clubhouse for group activities. Camping is offered at a major discount to American Legion veterans. Membership is required.
